The Hebrew University Choir plays an important role in campus musical life, offering its members a unique opportunity to engage in rich and diverse musical creation. The choir’s repertoire spans a wide range of works, combining classical and contemporary styles alongside popular songs in captivating arrangements. This allows participants to make music at a high level while exploring a variety of musical genres.

The choir includes students from all academic disciplines, as well as faculty and administrative staff, creating a multidisciplinary group with a strong academic and collegial atmosphere. The choir performs both on campus and in community settings, such as retirement homes and hospitals.

The social connections that form among choir members are a central part of the experience. The choir is a vibrant, close-knit group, both in rehearsals and beyond the academic schedule.

Students may earn 2 academic credits for participating in the choir, making it possible to combine an enjoyable and enriching artistic activity with their academic studies, while also contributing to their personal and professional development. The choir plays a significant role in cultivating musical, social, and community skills, offering its members a chance to be part of a diverse, creative, and unique group.

Dr. Anat Rubinstein is a choral conductor and musicologist, and a graduate of the Department of Musicology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Her research focuses on Jewish music in its various contexts. Dr. Rubinstein conducts the Hebrew University student choir and also teaches and coordinates courses at the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem’s Department of Continuing Education.
